Encosta a tua cabecinha (lay your head) a poignant song we used to hear, that is slowly receding from our deep seated consciousness under the shade of a former power. We have been through the historic change of powers that be, that governed us for half a millennium, a long long time, 450 years, waking up in the morning as kids, in our ancestral homes, to anxious sighs of women who worried for their children future. What could be? It is never going to be the same. It was hard, in the early decade, but move on and adapt, we did. This song captures the moments of sadness of future that was, then unknown and uncertain for their children and their grand children. Credit: Venus Mascarenhas

Refrain:
Encosta a tua cabecinha no meu ombro e chora
Lay your little head on my shoulder and cry
E conta logo a tua mágoa toda para mim
And tell me all your sorrows right away
Quem chora no meu ombro eu juro que não vai embora,
Whoever cries on my shoulder, I swear, will not leave,
que não vai embora
that doesn't go away
que não vai embora
that doesn't go away
Ref
....porque gosta de mim
because you like me
Amor, eu quero o teu carinho, porque eu vivo tão sozinho
Baby, I want your affection, because I live so alone
Não sei se a saudade fica ou se ela vai embora,
I don't know if the longing remains or if it fades away,
se ela vai embora,se ela vai embora
if it fades away, if it fades away
Não sei se a saudade fica ou se ela vai embora,
I don't know if the longing remains or if it fades away,
se ela vai embora, porque gosta de mim
if she fades away, if she fades away
